Getting there and back
- On foot. The stadium is in the city centre, a few minutes from Cardiff Central, so if you stay in town you can walk there and back.
- By train. Cardiff Central has direct trains from London Paddington, about 1 hour 45 minutes at the fastest, from Bristol Temple Meads, about 45 minutes, and from Swansea and Newport. Extra trains have run after past matches.
- After the match. At past matches there’s been a queueing system outside Cardiff Central, with mainline queues on Central Square, and at some Cardiff Queen Street was closed to most passengers. Buy your ticket before you queue, and check Transport for Wales and GWR for your match.
- By car. Roads across the city centre close to traffic for several hours around kick-off. At the 2026 Six Nations they closed from 12.30pm to 9pm for a 4.40pm kick-off, and Penarth Road closed from 30 minutes before the final whistle. Cardiff Council has run a park and ride from the Sports Village in Cardiff Bay.
- By bike. The closures are for motor vehicles only, and the city’s cycleways stay open.
Booking tips
- Book as soon as you have tickets. Wales v England is the biggest weekend of the year in Cardiff, and the closest places go first.
- Stay the night. Wales v England kicks off at 4.40pm and finishes around 6.30pm, when the station queues are at their longest. Staying over saves the scramble.
- Make a weekend of it. Arrive on the Friday and the whole city is yours before the crowds come in.
- Count beds, not bedrooms. Going as a group? Check how many separate beds there are, and who would be sharing.
- Spread the cost. When check-in is at least 15 days away, pay half when you book and the rest a week before you arrive, with no extra fees.
