I booked this for two nights as we were travelling up from Dover for a funeral. When we arrived and first opened the door there was a strong smell of ammonia like something was rotting or a drain had broken. Opened the window in the kitchen to let some air through and the back door to find bags and bags of rotting food and milk with hundreds of flies everywhere. The bathroom smelt damp and was mouldy, they shower was tied on with what looked like a nappy bag. Sitting down on the sofa to contact the host there were stains over the cushions. Further inspection I found stains on the carpets, food on the mirrors. Crisps on bedroom carpet, food spills on bedside table, something perhaps coffee over the broken radiator. The beds were made but given the poor condition I couldn't say if they were freshly made. The host did not reply in time so Airbnb auto esscerlated my complaint. The host was completely unhelpful and Airbnb fully refunded me after a full investigation. Not recommended!

As described. Met the expectations for the price

Several black bags and food waste outside of the back door piled up, flies all over. Hair and dirt in the bathroom, need maintenance also throughout the property. No hot water throughout my stay and host was not very helpful in responses and did not sort issue out during my stay and ignoring messages when asked for a contact number to discuss the issue further rather than over the messenger.

I was here for work and the house was no frills but perfectly serviceable. Decent restaurants "Summat ta ate" and Mahabarat, a Bangladeshi-run restaurant in a former chapel. I'm told Dough is good too, but didn't visit. Choice of nearby pubs, which I didn't get the chance to visit. Hindley isn't a place you'd go on holiday to, but was pleasant enough and people are friendly.
