For hosts: how to win more guest requests

When a guest posts a request near you, several hosts may answer. Here’s what makes an offer the one they accept.

A request is a guest telling you exactly what they need. That’s a head start most listings never get — but other hosts nearby see the same request. The offers that win tend to do the same few things.

Be quick

Guests often start comparing as soon as the first offers arrive, so a quick reply has a better chance of being read. We email you when a request comes in near one of your listings — reply from your requests page while it’s fresh.

Answer their request, not a generic one

Your offer’s note is your chance to show you’ve read what they asked for. If they need six separate beds, say how your beds are laid out. If they mentioned vans, say where they’ll park. If they’re working at a site, say how long the drive is.

The best offers read like a reply to the guest, not an advert for the house.

Price for the whole stay

Guests compare the total. For longer stays, a weekly or monthly discount often makes the difference, and it’s clearer to show it in your price than to promise it in a message.

Let your photos do the work

Your cover photo is the first thing a guest sees on your offer. Use a bright, real photo of the place — not a collage, a logo or text on the picture. When you change photos on a live listing, it goes back for a quick review before guests see the new ones.
