We had a lovely 5-night stay at Headmaster’s House. It’s in a fantastic location at the top of the village, just a 2-minute walk to the shops, pubs and cafés. The house is huge and would comfortably accommodate a large family or group. It was warm, comfortable and well equipped. The Wi-Fi was excellent and the TVs supported all the main streaming apps. We couldn’t get terrestrial TV, but it wasn’t an issue for us. The enclosed garden was perfect for our two miniature dachshunds, although owners of larger dogs should note the fencing is quite low in places. Alston is a lovely village with beautiful riverside walks, and we’d highly recommend meals at The Cumberland and Alston House. Overall, a fantastic base for exploring the North Pennines and somewhere we’d happily stay again.
